Frontiers in Horticulture is delighted to present the 'Reviews in' series of Research Topics. 'Reviews in' is a series being launched across Frontiers in Horticulture's sections which aims to publish high-quality review articles on key topics within the field. The goal of this series is to highlight recent advances across horticultural disciplines, whilst emphasising important directions and new possibilities for future inquiry. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion within the broader horticulture community and translate to best practice applications in research, industry, and policy settings.
The Sustainable Pest and Disease Management section covers environmentally friendly approaches for the control of pests and diseases in horticultural production, spanning biological control, biopesticides, AI and robotics applications, epidemiology, modelling, resistance management, and postharvest control. As global horticulture faces growing pest and disease pressure, pesticide resistance, and the imperative to reduce the environmental footprint of crop protection, the demand for rigorous, synthesised knowledge has never been greater. Reviews in Sustainable Pest and Disease Management brings together high-quality scholarly review articles that map the current state of the science, identify critical knowledge gaps, and chart directions for integrated, sustainable, and innovative pest and disease management solutions.
The Reviews in Sustainable Pest and Disease Management collection welcomes Review, Mini-Review, and Systematic Review articles on topics within the scope of the Sustainable Pest and Disease Management section.
Topics considered in scope include, but are not limited to:
· application of artificial intelligence and robotics in integrated pest management
· biological control
· biopesticides from natural products
· development of decision support systems
· economic consideration of pest and disease control options
· epidemiology
· modeling
· pathogen and insect dynamics
· pesticide and fungicide resistance management
· postharvest control and management of losses.
New articles will be visible in the collection as they are accepted for publication.
